Personalized news · One edition a day

A morning ritual, not an infinite scroll.

The Brief

Brief News is a daily newspaper each reader builds on LENDZ. You pick subjects from 17 desks, rank them, and name the paper. One edition prints every morning at 6 AM ET: your first subject supplies the lead story, your second the off-lead, and the rest follow down the page. Every story names and links its sources. Summaries written by AI say so. You read it in Paper, Night or Terminal.

§ 01

A paper, not a feed

Most news on a phone arrives as a stream with no bottom. Brief News is built the other way round. It is an edition: a front page with a lead story and an off-lead, then a section for each subject you chose, set in the order you ranked them. It is composed once, it goes to press once, and it is the same paper whether you open it at breakfast or at lunch.

The paper is yours in a literal sense. You give it a name, and that name sits in the middle of your masthead. Nobody else ever sees it. The shape of your front page is set by the subjects you picked and the order you put them in.

§ 02

Build your paper

A handful of decisions, and you can change all of them later.

  1. 01
    Procedure 01

    Pick your desks

Choose the subjects your paper will cover from the 17 desks on offer: politics, world news, business, technology, science, climate, health, sports, culture and more. Pick at least 5 and at most 9, so the front page always has enough to run and never more than a morning can hold.

  2. 02
    Procedure 02

    Rank them

Order is the whole design. Your first subject supplies the lead story, your second the off-lead, and the rest follow down the page in your order.

  3. 03
    Procedure 03

    Name it

Give the paper a name. It prints on your masthead and stays private to you.

  4. 04
    Procedure 04

    Choose how it looks

Paper, Night or Terminal. Switch from the masthead whenever you like; the same front page re-sets in the new design.

  5. 05
    Procedure 05

    It goes to press

Your edition prints every morning at 6 AM ET, the same hour for every reader wherever they are. A change to your subjects runs from the next edition, because today's is already printed.

§ 03

Three designs, one front page

Each theme is a full design with its own type, rules and density, not a color swap. Switching is instant and reversible.

§ 04

Every story says where it came from

The reporting in your paper comes from news outlets, and the paper says so on every story. A source line under each headline names the outlets carrying it and links to the outlet. When more than one outlet has the story, the kicker shows how many sources it rests on, and an Also list gathers the other outlets' versions, each linked to its own article. Lead photographs carry a credit.

Exhibit B— AI-written summaries wear a label

Some stories carry a summary LENDZ wrote with AI, drawn from the outlets' reporting. Wherever one appears, a caption sits directly above it: LENDZ News Report Summary — Written by AI. On the full story page, the credit line repeats that wording and names the outlets the summary came from. A story without that caption is showing the outlet's own summary.

Questions on file

Q01When does my paper arrive?

Every morning at 6 AM ET, the same hour for every reader. Changes you make to your subjects run from the next edition.

Q02How many subjects can I pick?

Between 5 and 9, from 17 desks. The minimum keeps a lead and an off-lead on the front page; the maximum keeps the edition readable in one sitting.

Q03Is the news written by AI?

The stories come from news outlets, and each one names and links its sources. Some stories also carry a summary LENDZ wrote with AI, and those are always labeled "Written by AI".

Q04Does it cost anything?

No. The paper is free and carries ads. An optional monthly upgrade removes them, and creator and verified accounts read ad-free automatically.

Q05Can other people see my paper?

The name you give your paper appears on your masthead and nobody else sees it. Your paper is composed for you alone.

Q06Can I change the look?

Yes. Paper, Night and Terminal are one tap apart on the masthead, and the same front page re-sets in whichever you choose.
